third 0.6 alpha package

Post by zuzuf » Mon Mar 16, 2009 2:28 am

here it is:
http://netserver.ta3d.org/files/ta3d_0. ... alpha_2.7z

This revision mainly adds real support for unit scripting in Lua (with several examples). Beware that you cannot save/load a game running with those Lua scripts (not yet), and networking is not broken but multiplayer menus have been disabled (you can't start a multiplayer game using the GUI but you can specify a tdf file telling TA3D how to connect/start a server).

Also, the default net sever is now set to netserver.ta3d.org (which doesn't point to 0.5 default one)

The big new feature is the NetClient, which is a king of battle.net thing. For now it only features chat (you can create a new account, log in/out, send messages, ...). The NetServer has been designed to be as robust as possible (it's written in Lua, and basically even if it crashes or is being updated it shouldn't stop working :), that's Lua magic :D ).

The NetClient is accessible through the multiplayer button in main menu. It temporarily replace the network room ... later I'll add an other menu that allow chosing between LAN and Internet gaming.

Enjoy

Just tested it out on my computer, it crashed once and the other time, displayed an acid map with what I guess you could call corrupt textures, but it was more than that. I'll wait until a final 0.6 is released though before I start submitting bugs.

Corrupted textures = textured with wrong/broken colors.

Terrain textures are differ than they should be. Compare to this screenshot

So the black stripes bug is gone :D , first victory 8)

This texture corruption may come from the internal texture format used by ATI when OpenGL is asked to use the one TA3D wants to use

Got it. In that case I guess there was some texture corruption in every version I've tried. I'm using an ATI card though (Radeon HD 4670).

mipmaps generators should be equivalent ... at least with nvidia cards they are, I'll look deeper into this when I find time

darn, if I knew the first thing about OpenGL I'd try to help you out on that. My development skills are oriented more towards java and web application development.

Well, totala1.hpi do sure have no maps in it :P So it probably not bug, it`s just a notice about absence of map?

Be cool. I hate myself when such things like you discribe are happens... Use Notepad instead of phpbb form if you write something big, then copy/paste in the phpbb form :P Will keep your nerves from blowing up when strange shit happens :P
