constant freezing causin a reboot

Post by Julian » Sun Dec 17, 2006 1:52 pm

Hi,

for some reason the only map that seems to work for me is the first on the list "a gentle time", ive tried lots of different maps but they all just freeze as the load bar reaches the end then i need to press the pc's restart button. maybe because i installed core contingency and battle tactics addon on my total annihilation install and then copyied the *.hpi files from that install?

try with fewer hpi files, only totala1.hpi is needed (and totala2.hpi for maps).

It might be a bit long at the end because it computes a large texture of the map, this texture is used to draw a low detailed map when zooming out, so it might take a moment if you are out of memory (the texture is first computed in RAM then uploaded to video memory), It might take up to 64Mo of RAM to compute this (I will try to reduce that in the future)

okay, I have an idea of what is doing that. Do the maps you tried have water or lava?? Try to set water_quality to 0 or 1 in the options menu before launching a game. If you have a NVidia graphic card with driver 9629 upgrade to 9631, there is a bug in that driver which prevent TA3D of using Frame Buffer Objects (FBO).

it should be a problem with FBO support, I think it's driver side.
