Thank you for the explanation on how to install, just one question though, where do I get totala1.hpi? because it doesn't exist on the original game disc

No it doesn't. It's contained in the totala3.hpi archive. There is a script to extract required files from CDs. If it doesn't work, you can extract totala1.hpi with the following command:

ta3d --quiet --install totala3.hpi install\\totala1.hpi
