Strange behaviour of tga images from TA
I`ve noticed a strange behaviour of tga, extracted with ta3d from totala1.hpi
*.tga files can be opened on Windows by Gump or Paint, but cannot be opened in Photoshop, Paint.Net and so on (but they support tga images).
I wonder, why is it so. Maybe there are some errors in the ta3d code, that makes some of TGA file areadable in several picture-editing soft? May it become a problem in the future and we should fix it now?
I`ll extract tga using native TA utils and do some tests.
ADDED. Strange, all the soft i can find can only export textures as BMP.

TA3D uses SDL_image to read various image formats (TGA, BMP, PNG, ...) but unfortunately, SDL can only write BMP files, I tried to implement a TGA writer, but it only supports uncompressed images and is far from perfect .

BMP is much better. Maybe then in latest revision files, extracted from gafs will have an extension of BMP? It`ll be much comfortable to work with BMP than with TGA, especially if they ARE BMPs
Re: Strange behaviour of tga images from TA
I remeber that F12 create a TGA file not BMP.
And in this case, just change the .tga to .bmp then all perfect

Re: Strange behaviour of tga images from TA
in fact it was just saving BMPs with TGA extension, it was a mistake in the code. Now it saves TGAs as TGAs. As I said in an other thread, TGA support alpha channel but BMP doesn't, that's why we keep using TGA. But if you want you can build a GAF from BMP, PNG, TGA, ... everything that is supported by SDL

In case of alpha channel the question about BMP is no more up-to-date. TGA is what we need

Couldn't shot in main menu, F12 also should work as shot in main menu /:^]

Use Ctrl+PrintScreen Keys - then use any graphic editor to paste from clipboard.
