This can be done for windows version.

Linux version may use it too but this will require more work because of binary compatibility on all distributions, and it will work only on a home made install since the package manager should handle all that itself.

on OS X ... don't know how it works on mac

On OS X a really good framework for this is already available (make coffee and tea in the same time). However it is designed for Cocoa only. 2 solutions : our own home-made system or a real Cocoa application that will launch TA3D
