Currently I am working on windows compilation of the SDL branch (I can get it compiled but not linked ).
I managed to build FTGL as a static library for mingw32 (I had to write my own makefile to get it since their configuration script is broken for mingw32 )
I've done some cleaning too (Threads, Mutexes now use SDL stuffs instead of home made ones, and there are no more duplicates in those codes).
I've also removed some useless functions in SDL branch.

I`m following timeline on Trac, that`s why i wrote this post http://ta3d.darkstars.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=933.
Also, I`ve created the russian TA fansite (since there was none) http://total-annihilation.by.ru/index.html with forum and chat, so people who still do like TA could have place to gather and play online games.
But the main idea of this site is to make russian TA community familiar with TA3D and once the 0.6.0. (or 0.5.3?) build will be out I`ll begin to post info about it on my site also.
Keep up the great work!
Ta3D is the only real successor for TA!!!!
P.S. It would be nice if you add to TA3D +makeposter function. It creates such screenshots like this:

Wow, your website is nice, but I don't understand a word of Russian ...
Concerning the +makeposter function, it's not possible in perspective mode, but now we can use an orthographic camera it should be possible but it won't be easy to implement (the only way to render images for now is to run through the main loop :s), so we've better waiting a bit that main loop is split into pieces (user interaction, GUI, renderer, ...), that way we could render everything to the back buffer (once it has been flipped to the screen, so users won't see we're doing weird things in back buffer) or even in a texture if this is possible (we could render everything in one pass if the texture can be big enough).

Wooow !!! I got the win32 binary working !!
In fact the error was due to resource files not being in current directory (on Linux I put them in my ~/.ta3d/resources/ folder but win32 binary doesn't look for it there - I used wine to test all this).
FTGL works fine in the win32 version (but for now it only loads Fonts in my Linux system paths so on a real windows you wouldn't get any font, this is the magic of wine ).
The only (annoying) bug I noticed is the missing backgrounds ... which makes it difficult to use the GUI (buttons, windows, widgets, everything works except backgrounds ...)
So this is really the good way
