How hard is it to add a player profile manger and mod manger to ta3d to come up before ta3d splash screen? The reason I ask is if its not that hard i can help add it to 0.6 before the beta/test versions are released.

It's not difficult, it's just a matter of creating a new "menu" (the object we use to handle GUI events and the associated .tdf/.area files), then "reloading" (maybe just loading ?) the mod/player settings.
What is less obvious is integrating the profile stuffs into the settings system but it's not that difficult, just save the profile specific stuffs into TDF subsections in ta3d.cfg, and add a few data structures to store the profiles :).

I have run into bugs with the 0.6 alphas related to mod management. The problem is when i go to options and select any mod the game crashes and I have no idea why it does because the mods i am using worked ok in 0.5.4.

hm, probably VFS stuffs that are not bug free yet  . As far as mods are concerned this is a key piece of code, it's where the patching magic takes place

That mod manager maybe really useful, but for player profile, a set up? or some things personal?

player profile could include player name, netserver account, camera preferences, play list, some settings could be personal too (like smaller resolution with all details enabled, or less details but higher resolution, or highlighting of underwater stuffs, etc...).

It would be useful on windows, on OS X I don't know, but I don't really see the use of having several profiles on Linux since settings are stored in personnel folder, your profile is associated with your user session ...

could you make the player profiles be stored in the all users folder under documents on windows so if you share your computer with others and another user is logged in you can still play with your profile.

this is a matter of changing a path, but I don't know how to get the path to user folder in windows :s, it should be somewhere in an old SVN revision when TA3D used to store all its data there ...
