I put the CNC mod in ~/.ta3d/resources/mods/cnc and it has info.mod there too, so when I start up the game it will let me select TA:World Domination and the C&C mod but as soon one of those mod is loaded it shows on skirmish menu only the 2 default faction names ARM and CORE so it wont even let me s...

So the reason porting TA3D to Qt5 instead of SDL is just for the increased portability between different platforms or does it also provide other advances that SDL cannot provide per default? I am just wondering since this is quite a overhaul.

Also with the QT5 port is this the reason why TA3D 0.6.0 (Linux) is almost 200 MiB big? The previous one had a puny 17~ MiB size.

It seems some textures are missing, did you gaved them properly direction to the textures? It could be that cause, also if it still freezes try with other format that TA3D supports like s3o. if it still crashes then post it, so we can try to help you Edit: ahh wait you are using the beta version of ...

alternative isn't it possible to add a folder with .inis (or any other txt format) that is like armcom.ini and reads out the model pieces and defines which pieces is it which connected?
